We naturally crave and move toward greater love and freedom. But when we think of freedom we tend think of what would make us feel more free. “If I had more money, better health, fewer toxic people around me, a different house, better work, etc. then I would feel more free.”
Real freedom doesn’t come from changing our external circumstances. It’s an internal state of being that changes our inner resonances. Then those new resonances open up unexpected possibilities for a new outer reality.
The good news is that we are changing rapidly. As we evolve, we gain greater clarity about the beliefs and stories that limit our freedom. Some of these beliefs have been deeply embedded for so long that we take it for granted that they are reality.
When we’re willing to consider that what we thought was reality might actually be made up stories, we can relinquish them and find freedom in the space between the stories. While this is liberating, it can also be unnerving and frightening to the parts of us that don’t like change or like to plan and control. It can feel like we’re dying as we move away from the familiar into the unknown. So, even while craving greater freedom, we can also subconsciously dread and resist those intense levels of change.
With the courage to explore beyond everything we think is reality, we can find freedom. Freedom is in the present, in the silence between all stories where we experience ourselves in new ways. In freedom, new possibilities emerge that did not exist before. From our new resonances, the future unfolds and presents itself with more and more grace.
